Performance Duration: ~15 minutes
Location: Performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, for the Lit & Luz festival.
Our performance at the Lit & Luz festival, featuring the poems from ’10 things cosas que flow +1,’ was a vivid exploration of identity, belonging, and transformation. Maricela Guerrero and I read these bilingual poems, blending English and Spanish to reflect our shared yet distinct experiences. Our voices intermingled, sometimes syncing up, sometimes diverging, mirroring the fluidity of the poems’ themes. The poems spoke of the body, nature, and personal struggles, weaving in elements like water, moon, and earth. They addressed themes of acceptance and the challenges faced by the trans community, advocating for freedom and fluidity.
